Hope Is a Garden
Tuesday at noon in the back garden on the first of four days with 90+ F degree highs. I watered the baby plants and trees in the morning or evening with decreasing frequency as the week progressed and everything came out unscathed. Most importantly, I replenished the mulch in the pathways after a river ran through the garden during nearly an hour of pouring rain a few days earlier. Thankfully the rocky garden bed edges protected all the plants and soil from the rushing water except for the North-South paths. As I think about what to plant in the Northeast corner of the garden (the top left of this photo) that used to be one of the children’s play areas, my greatest concern is now water management and slowing the path of future temporary rivers.
