Hope Is a Garden
I have tried growing all sorts of onion-family plants in the garden, but have four favorites that are all perennial or self-perpetuating. Garlic is harvested in July and reseeded in early November. Walking onions provide infinite scallions in spring and fall. Chives and their blossoms are my favorite for salads. And now garlic chives, the newest addition, have more substance than chives when cooked and larger starburst flowers that taste delightfully pungent.
