Hope Is a Garden
Birds, bunnies, squirrels, and chipmunks share this space. While three raised beds have a (mostly) bunny-proof fence, elsewhere I rely on smaller chicken wire fence rounds and temporary fences made with sticks stuck in the ground. Old Christmas tree branches and fresh holly bush trimmings are especially effective.
The greatest challenge is keeping birds off the peas. This configuration of a tomato plant and trellis surrounded by peas in a chicken wire fence round, along with numerous self-seeded greens and herbs (cilantro, mache, claytonia, lettuce, arugula going to seed) has worked the best this year.
