In support of chaos, part 2
In support of chaos, part 2

The rest of the backyard garden with all the annual beds. The only consistent structure to this area is from the perennials that share the space (rhubarb, asparagus, chives, garlic chives, sage, walking onion, perennial leeks, lavender) and two rotating beds of garlic. However, deciding where to transplant starts or plant seeds quickly becomes complicated. Biennial Red Russian kale, constantly traveling strawberries, and mostly-perennial potatoes require work-arounds. Then there are the regional areas of self-seeding plants: calendula, cilantro, fennel, kale, mustard, arugula, radish, tomatillo, garlic chives, vit mache, claytonia, lettuce, sorrel, and tomatoes. Each has their preferred niche, occasionally disrupted by garlic bed rotation. As a result, plants end up everywhere and it becomes a (fun?) game of remembering all the hiding places where one can find a snow pea.
